Meet Dr. Donald Tipple, MDI’s 2016 September Volunteer of the Month

Dr. Tipple owns Nakoma Dental in Madison, becoming a dentist because he liked to work with his hands in a healthcare setting and loved forming relationships with patients. Dr. Tipple has been volunteering with us for almost six years, originally joining because he wanted to give back.

Dr. Tipple has gone above and beyond as a volunteer dentist–bringing his own staff members to assist and taking it upon himself to provide our student volunteers with an educational experience. In addition to providing patient care, Dr. Tipple is also heavily involved with the Clinical Advisory Committee, and most recently, has made great contributions towards improving our denture process.

In his spare time, he likes spending time with his wife and kids, reading nonfiction, and playing golf. He most recently finished his second Ironman with his son. Dr. Tipple would tell anyone thinking about volunteering at MDI “to give it a try and don’t judge a book by its cover, because one’s assumptions are always different after you actually try it.”
